The Artists Corner #2

This week I'm featuring a painting by one of my favorite artists Mark Shasha. He is an American artist and also an author of children's books, illustrator and educator. His subjects are often familiar and are usually inspired by the textures and light found along the New England coast where he lives and works. This is one of the oil paintings from his site titled, "Island Times ©".

Today would be my brother's birthday. We never celebrated his birthday after 2001 as he wanted it that way. It's hard to believe he is gone 9 years already. He was our oldest sibling and today he would have been 80 years old. He is missed. I don't ever remember seeing him without a smile on his face. He will be remembered in church today too. That's all there is for now my friends. Have a blessed weekend and until next time be blessed.

  1. A day with a lot of remembrances. 9/11 was the first wedding anniversary after Alan passed.
The painting is beautiful. I love the color of the water.

  2. That's a beautiful painting. We'll always remember that terrible day when our country was attacked. God Bless America

  3. Toni, I just read your "ABout Me" page and all your loves and I had to smile at how much alike we are! I enjoy Midsomer Murders too. I watch a lot of Father Brown Mysteries too. Love Miss Marple - but it has to be Joan Hickson. And who couldn't love Hercule Poirot. David Suchet does such a fantastic job with him. Have you read his biography - "Poirot and Me"? Also like Lord of the Rings although I never have read the books - only seen the movies.

    1. Joan Hickson is and always will be Miss Marple to me too. I have read Suchet's book. When I think of Poirot I only see David Suchet. :) I'm watching a Father Brown's mystery tonight at 6pm on PBS. I have all of J.R.R. Tolkien's LOTR and The Hobbit trilogies DVDs and read the books years ago. I also have C.S. Lewis' Narnia DVDs. I guess we are a lot alike :)
