2. Armed Forces Day is celebrated the third Saturday of May. The United States honors the men and women of the military services. The Armed Forces Day Celebration combined the Army, Navy, and the Air Force in 1950. Prior to that year, they had been held at separate times.
3. Memorial Day or Decoration Day is observed, in most states of the United States, the last Monday in May. It is a legal holiday and is observed in memory of those who died while serving the United States in war. The graves of the war heroes are decorated with flowers. It was first observed in 1866.

Time to enjoy a day off outside

ReplyDeleteHidden Figures was a good movie. It shows the trials and tribulations not only of black women but all women in those years when you couldnt buy a house, get a loan etc without a mans signature and when trying to be an engineer etc was almost impossible for women!
ReplyDeleteOne scene in which she walks into a night class and the men all turn and stare is a good example of how men felt about women going outside stereotypical roles men designed for them.
Anyway, enjoy the movie. I will be anxious to hear what you think of it!
