A Blessed And Happy New Year To You

I Wish For You

I wish for you the warmth of the sun
I wish for you peace when day is done

I wish for you the joys of life
I wish for you freedom from strife

I wish for you twinkling stars at night
I wish for you they always shine bright

I wish for you no ailing days
I wish for you no moody ways

I wish for you a childlike curiosity
I wish for you through their eyes to see

I wish for you true friends galore
I wish for you to always meet more

I wish for you a close family's love
I wish for you a faith from above

These are my New Year's wishes for you my friend
And of course I wish they will never end.

Friday Foto Friends ~ Year End Snow

For the last Friday Foto Friends post of 2017 I thought you might enjoy a repeat of these four snow animated winter scenes. Except for the last photo, animations are by Art Senses who I found on Facebook. The top one is definitely Central Park in New York. The other two are just lovely scenes. The last one of cardinals and bird feeder. I love animations and sometimes I'll create animation in my own graphics.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope you enjoyed the animated photos. Have a day of blessings my friends. I'll see you Sunday with a special New Year greeting card posted here.
Book Reading
Thought I would post something today and so I'm posting about reading. I was always an avid reader and used to read 2-3 books a week. Although I've slowed down in my reading, it's still one of my favorite things to do. I found an old question book meme that I had posted awhile ago that I thought you might like to answer. Below is my answer to the meme.
  When growing up did your family share your love of books? If so, did one person get you into reading? And, do you have any family-oriented memories with books and reading? (Family trips to bookstore, reading the same book as a sibling or parent, etc.)  When I was a child, reading books were the way to go for enjoyment. I had no real influence as I just loved to read and at Christmas and my birthdays my aunts would always give me books. First and foremost was and is The Bible.
I grew up with all the great classics like Dickens, Cristie, Austin, Tolkein, Lewis, Verne, etc.. and I still enjoy reading them today. My father used to love anything science fiction and I remember sneaking his books at night and reading them in my room after everyone was sleeping.
Do you read? What is your favorite book or books? Let me know what books you like to read if you do. And until the next time dear friends and family, be blessed.
Friday Foto Friends ~ The Christmas Story
I usually post this every Christmas Season hoping you all will be blessed by it.
(Quoted From Luke 2:1-19 ~ NASB Study Bible)
Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, “Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.” So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger. When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart.
Teach The Children
Another tradition of mine is to remind the world that even "Santa Claus" knows the true meaning of Christmas and so I now post this special entry. Please take the time to read the whole post. Thank you.
Teach the children...
Late one Christmas Eve, I sank back, tired but content, into my easy chair. The kids were in bed, the gifts were wrapped, the milk and cookies waited by the fireplace for Santa. As I sat back admiring the tree with its decorations, I couldn't help feeling that something important was missing. It wasn't long before the tiny twinkling tree lights lulled me to sleep.
I don't know how long I slept, but all of a sudden I knew that I wasn't alone. I opened my eyes, and you can imagine my surprise when I saw Santa Claus himself sitting next to my Christmas tree. He was dressed all in fur from his head to his foot just as the poem described him, but he was not the "jolly old elf" of Christmas legend. The man who sat before me looked sad and disappointed, and there were tears in his eyes.
"Santa, what's wrong?" I asked, "Why are you crying?"  "It's the children," Santa replied sadly. "But Santa, the children love you," I said.
"Oh, I know they love me, and they love the gifts I bring them," Santa said, "but the children of today seem to have somehow missed out on the true spirit of Christmas. It's not their fault. It's just that the adults, many of them not having been taught themselves, have forgotten to teach the children."
"Teach them what?" I asked.
Santa's kind old face became soft, more gentle. His eyes began to shine with something more than tears. He spoke softly. "Teach the children the true meaning of Christmas. Teach them that the part of Christmas we can see, hear, and touch is much more than meets the eye. Teach them the symbolism behind the customs and traditions of Christmas which we now observe. Teach them what it is they truly represent."
Santa reached into his bag and pulled out a tiny Christmas tree and set it on my mantle. "Teach them about the Christmas tree. Green is the second color of Christmas. The stately evergreen, with its unchanging color, represents the hope of eternal life in Jesus. Its needles point heavenward as a reminder that mankind's thoughts should turn heavenward as well."
Santa reached into his bag again and pulled out a shiny star and placed it at the top of the small tree. "The star was the heavenly sign of promise. God promised a Savior for the world and the star was the sign of the fulfillment of that promise on the night that Jesus Christ was born. Teach the children that God always fulfills His promises, and that wise men still seek Him."
"Red," said Santa, "is the first color of Christmas." He pulled forth a red ornament for the tiny tree. "Red is deep, intense, vivid. It is the color of the life-giving blood that flows through our veins. It is the symbol of God's greatest gift. Teach the children that Christ gave His life and shed His blood for them that they might have eternal life. When they see the color red, it should remind them of that most wonderful Gift."
Santa found a silver bell in his pack and placed it on the tree. "Just as lost sheep are guided to safety by the sound of the bell, it continues to ring today for all to be guided to the fold. Teach the children to follow the true Shepherd, who gave His life for the sheep."
Santa placed a candle on the mantle and lit it. The soft glow from its one tiny flame brightened the room. "The glow of the candle represents how people can show their thanks for the gift of God's Son that Christmas Eve long ago. Teach the children to follow in Christ's foot steps... to go about doing good. Teach them to let their light so shine before people that all may see it and glorify God. This is what is symbolized when the twinkling lights shine on the tree like hundreds of bright, shining candles, each of them representing one of God's precious children, their light shining for all to see."
Again Santa reached into his bag and this time he brought forth a tiny red and white striped cane. As he hung it on the tree he spoke softly. "The candy cane is a stick of hard white candy: white to symbolize the virgin birth and sinless nature of Jesus, and hard to symbolize the Solid Rock the foundation of the church, and the firmness of God's promises. The candy cane is in the form of a 'J' to represent the precious name of Jesus, who came to earth. It also represents the Good Shepherd's crook, which He uses to reach down into the ditches of the world to lift out the fallen lambs who, like all sheep, have gone astray. The original candy cane had three small red stripes, which are the stripes of the scourging Jesus received by which we are healed, and a large red stripe that represents the shed blood of Jesus, so that we can have the promise of eternal life."
"Teach these things to the children."
Santa brought out a beautiful wreath made of fresh, fragrant greenery tied with a bright red bow. "The bow reminds us of the bond of perfection, which is love. The wreath embodies all the good things about Christmas for those with eyes to see and hearts to understand. It contains the colors of red and green and the heaven-turned needles of the evergreen. The bow tells the story of good will towards all and its color reminds us of Christ's sacrifice. Even its very shape is symbolic, representing eternity and the eternal nature of Christ's love. It is a circle, without beginning and without end. These are the things you must teach the children."
I asked, "But where does that leave you, Santa?"
The tears gone now from his eyes, a smile broke over Santa's face. "Why bless you, my dear," he laughed, "I'm only a symbol myself. I represent the spirit of family fun and the joy of giving and receiving. If the children are taught these other things, there is no danger that I'll ever be forgotten."
"I think I'm beginning to understand."
"That's why I came," said Santa. "You're an adult. If you don't teach the children these things, then who will?"
The Fork In The Road
Here's this week's Toni's Creative Adventures. I enjoy doing this meme once a week. It's always fun seeing how a story adventure can be created with just 4 fill in the blanks questions.
The Fork In The Road
1.   While driving down a country road you come to a fork in the road. Being there are no signs for either road you decide to take the road on the - right. No special reason It just seemed like the one to take.
2.   You notice as you're driving along this road you see in the distance ahead - what looked like someone or something lying across the road.
3.   Stopping the car you wonder if you should get out and walk over to - the place where the lump in the road is. Being a little nervous you take your cellphone with you leaving the car running and the lights on. You decide to walk very slow as not to make any noise to disturb whatever it is lying on the ground. As you get closer and your heart is pounding fast you notice whatever it is, isn't moving. You finally reach the place and to your surprise the lump in the road is nothing but a dropped dead end sign. You nerviously start laughing and thanking the Lord it was nothing but a sign and not a body. You pick up the sign and fix it so it wouldn't fall again and smile at your vivid imagination thinking it was a dead person or animal.
4.   As you walk back to your car you can't help thinking that today turned out to be a - real surprising adventure. Turning the car around and going back to the fork in the road, you think to yourself, "In a way I'm glad I took the wrong road so I was able to fix the sign for others who might decide to take the road on the right." And peacefully drive happily on your way.
Friday Foto Friends ~ Winter Here
Thought I would re-post winter photos from my surrounding areas from last year for you to look at as there isn't anything special going on right now with me. Hope you enjoy looking at them.
Ice Storm photo I took from my old apartment window in Philmont, NY
Skiing on Hunter Mountain in the Catskills  (No not me LOL!).
I love looking at Winter scenes even thought I'm not a lover of the season or the snow and ice. As a child I loved it especially growing up in New York City, but as a grown up like a Bear I hibernate in the winter. LOL!! Until next time have a day of blessings my friends.
Wednesday's Poetry Day ~ My Morning Hug
Today I'm sitting in the early morning with everything quiet and just finished making coffee. So, with this picture in mind I thought I'd write what I'm doing in poetry.
My Morning Hug
Sitting here with coffee in hand
In the early morning light
Thinking where today I stand
And what will be in my sight
I contemplate on my things to do
And where I should start the day
I think that things are very few
So not much seems to be in play
Vacuum and dusting on the list
Two chores I'm not crazy about
Maybe today they shouldn't exist
And for today I'll cross them out
So now I'll just enjoy and drink
The coffee calling in my mug
And just relax and do not think
And give myself a morning hug.
The Ski Trail
Here's this week's Toni's Creative Adventures. I enjoy doing this meme once a week. It's always fun seeing how a story adventure can be created with just 4 fill in the blanks questions.
The Ski Trail
1.   While cross country skiing through an old country trail I notice a light through the trees ahead. Getting closer to the clearing I see the light comes from a cottage that looks inviting. I remove my skis and walk up the porch steps and knock on the door when - a cheerful looking grandmother type lady with dimples and a sweet smile invites me in.
2.   I step inside to a cozy living room and sitting in a big leather chair in front of the fireplace is - a friendly type elderly man whom I gathered was her husband.
3.   He smiles at me and offers me a seat and a cup of hot chocolate. We talk for a bit and - I really was enjoying my time there chatting with the elderly couple but when I glanced at my watch, I noticed it was really getting late.
4.   Happy and warm I thanked them both for their hospitality and go on my way, as I turn to wave goodbye I'm surprised to see - there is nothing but an empty field there and no sign of a cottage. "Did I dream all this? Or was it just a magical night that made me feel warm and safe. Smiling I glanced at my watch to find only 5 minutes had passed since I first spotted the cottage. Shaking my head I see I still had my skis on. I turned still smiling and went on my way wondering if I'll ever see the couple again. Glancing down I notice on the sleeve of my jacket a little chocolate stain that smelled very much like cocoa. Hmmmmm...
Friday Foto Friends ~ CP Holiday Train 2017
The CP Holiday Train program launched in 1999 and has since raised more than $13 million and four million pounds of food for communities along CP's routes in Canada and the United States. "The Holiday Train program is all about local food banks and food shelves and the critical role they play in our communities," said Keith Creel, CP's President and Chief Executive Officer. "People come for the beautifully-lit train and stay for the incredible show – all in the name of community. The holiday season is the best time of the year, and we look forward to bringing together thousands of Canadians and Americans this season for this incredibly important cause and a great time." So for my Friday Foto Friends I present you with the following photo and a video. Please take the time to watch the whole video as I'm sure you'll be blessed and enjoy it as much as I do.
Wednesday's Poetry Day ~ Shimmering Crystals
Getting to see many houses in my area really going all out decorated with so many beautiful lights and there is one house that every year has a beautiful big Christmas tree decorated with many crystal ornaments in their front window that inspired me to write the following poem last December.
Shimmering Crystals
Shimmering crystals shining bright
lighting up the darkened night
From your window I can see
hanging on your Christmas tree
I listen to the twinkling sound
as they magically spin around
Loving how they dress the tree
bringing out the child in me
How I wish this season never ends
for the joy and love it lends
Shimmering crystals shining bright
watch them lighten up the night.
I've had some blogging friends ask me about the church in my header. It's a Reformed Church and my view you see in my header is the back of the church and where I put my graphic wreath is where the local food pantry is located in the back. The church was organized in 1728 or 1729 by a Rev. Johannes Van Driessen, who was its first pastor. It's not the church I go to but I love looking at it. A few years ago I visited inside and it is truly an old beautiful church. It's the oldest Reformed Church in the state. Here is a photo of the front of the church  (not by me).
Let me know what you think of my little shimmering crystal poem, you won't hurt my feelings LOL!. So until the next time my friends, have a day of blessings.
The Artist Corner
Haven't done so in awhile so today I'm featuring a painting by Millie Gosch an avid plein air and impressionist painter who says, "I paint what I know, and what I love is nature. In my work I strive to bring my viewer into the painting and let them make it their own experience". This painting from her site is titled,  "Tree Serenade ©".  Beautiful isn't it.
Hope you enjoy me presenting artists and their paintings here on my blog every so often. Until the next time dear friends and family, be blessed.
The Seaside Lodge
Here is Toni's Creative Adventures. I enjoy doing this meme once a week. It's always fun seeing how a story adventure can be created with just 4 fill in the blanks questions.
The Seaside Lodge
1.   On a vacation at a private seaside lodge, I decide to jog along the seashore and up ahead I see what looks like a cave in the rocks ahead. I jog to the cave and - being a natural born explorer or nosy body I see it has a large opening for me to enter and explore.
2.   Once in the cave I wait for my eyes to adjust and along the wall in front of me I see a flashlight, using it I walk slowly and I suddenly come to - three different passage ways. All three have a long tunnel like passage. But one of them seems to have a bright light at what looks like the end of the passage. Without thinking twice I decide to follow that one which was the one on the left. As I start walking through that passage the light seemed to get brighter with a warm glow and a sound of swishing like calming water against the rocks.
3.   With wonder and awe I continue - to follow the tunnel without any fear but still walking a little slow for not knowing what I'll find. Not letting it bother me I continue on to the end only to realize I walked in a circle and at the end of the tunnel was the opening of where I started. Shaking my head and laughing I see that the warm glow was the sun shining and the swishing was the ocean waves hitting the shore. Even though nothing came of my little adventure I enjoyed every minute of it.
4.   Upon leaving the cave and replacing the flashlight I gather my thoughts and think - maybe tomorrow I'll return and explore one of the other two passages for who knows what I'll find at the end.
Friday Foto Friends ~ Sunrise On The Beach
Last Sunday was my daughter's birthday and on her special day she went to Frank Rendon Park at Daytona Beach in Florida before sunrise to watch the sun rise along with a great flock of seagulls. Here are three of the many photos she took as the sun rose over the Atlantic ocean.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I miss her so much as she lives in Florida right now in Orange City. As I don't travel any where any more I don't get to see her. I'm hoping she'll make it up here by the Spring.
