Wednesday's Poetry ~ Sunset By The River

Thinking back when I used to drive, I'd go down by the river just as the sun was setting and just sit and take in the surrounding beauty in front of me there would be the Catskill Mountains across the way and a sailboat or two just sitting peacefully in the river. I would stay there for a long time until the sun disappeared over the mountain. I miss those times and with that in mind I wrote the following poem on March 2nd of this month..

Sunset By The River

Sunset sitting by the river
Water smooth and calming
Colors bright red and gold
Breeze caresses and warming

Sailboat still and bobbing
Anchored for the night
Reflections shown like glass
Makes a wonderous sight

Peaceful and quietly still
As I sit and contemplate
Hands folded not moving
Leave me in a happy state

This view I see before me
Will ever stay in my mind
While sitting by the river
Sunset and peace combined.

Photo © was taken down by Germantown's Anchorage down by the Hudson River just down the road from me by a Germantown neighbor. One of the prettiest photos I have ever seen. Until the next time dear family and friends, have a day of blessings.

  1. Gorgeous photo. This is what I do by the bay! If I were nearby we would go together. I would make sure of it.
This kind of memory is important. Makes us who we are in the end.
    Have a good day today.
