Observing Thursday

On this Thursday of Holy Week I grew up knowing it as Holy Thursday. It is also called: Maundy Thursday, Covenant Thursday, Great and Holy Thursday, Thursday of Mysteries and Sheer Thursday.



It is the Christian holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter. It commemorates the foot washing and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles, as described in the canonical gospels. It is the fifth day of Holy Week, preceded by Holy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday.

    Yes, tonight is the night of the last supper or the memorial of his death. Too many forget this extremely important night.

    Thank you for sharing these scriptures and thoughts with us. I agree, too many ignore the significance of this night. Praying we will all reflect on the great gift Christ gave to us with His own blood and body. "This do in remembrance of Me..." Amen.
