Friday Foto Friends ~ Holiday Train Show®

Direct Quote From The Bronx Botanical Gardens Page ~   "New York City’s Favorite Holiday Tradition is Back! Saturday, November 17, 2018 – Monday, January 21, 2019 ~ Enchanting model trains zip through a display of more than 175 New York landmarks, each re-created with bark, leaves, and other natural materials—all under the twinkling glow of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. Marvel at G-scale locomotives humming past familiar sights such as the Brooklyn Bridge and Rockefeller Center on nearly a half-mile of track. This year’s exhibition showcases Lower Manhattan—the birthplace of New York City—featuring the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and iconic skyscrapers sharing the spotlight among old and new favorites. Making their debut this year are One World Trade Center and the historic Battery Maritime Building along with two vintage ferry boats."

The garden lights up with its collection of trains that chug along a nearly half-mile track by 150 miniature NYC landmarks like the Empire State Building and Radio City Music Hall, all made of natural materials such as leaves, twigs, bark and berries. Here are some of the sights.

  2. Oh, I would love to see this display of model trains. My father was a toy train collector and had quite a wonderful display all year round, and he would especially dress it up for Christmas. I miss him and his trains so much! It was quite a highlight for all to see, young and old. Thank you for sharing these with us. Brought back happy memories for me.

  4. I love Christmas trains and would love to see these in person. When our grandkids were little we had a Christmas train that we put under the Christmas tree, it was their favorite thing.
